Homework
Home Up

  • I try to allow plenty of time during the day for students to complete assignment, however; there will be times when homework is necessary.
  • Students write down assignments for homework in planners daily.
  • Homework should be able to be completed independently within about a half hour. If this is not the case, please let me know and we can discuss it.
  • It works best to have an established time for homework and a designated quiet area in which to study.
  • All homework is due the following day (unless otherwise noted) at 8:30 AM. Incomplete work will be counted wrong. If there were extenuating circumstances, making it nearly impossible for your child to complete the work, please send a note and I will handle it fairly. nancy.block@k12.sd.us
  • I caution parents about offering too much "hand holding" during homework sessions. Dr. John Rosemond has a terrific book, Ending the Homework Hassle. I see eye to eye with Rosemond's thinking that homework has been assigned to the student not the parent. Mom and Dad, you are off the hook, you already completed the fourth grade! Now it's your child's turn.
